From a childhood dream to a place where swimmers grow with confidence and a smile
owner of DREAMSSS Swim School
Hi, I'm Hedvika Hajek
Swimming has been part of my life forever. I was five when I first fell in love with the water. But that first jump wasn't fearless at all …
I still remember standing at an open-air swimming pool in Prague, tears in my eyes. My mum was already in the water. I was standing there, ready, but afraid to jump in. Then a man in the pool looked at me and said,
I took a breath, dived in… and the fear disappeared.
That moment stayed with me. It taught me how powerful kind words, encouragement, and trust can be, especially in the water. Sometimes, a smile, the right tone, or one simple sentence is enough to help someone believe in themselves.
Those values are at the heart of DREAMSSS today.
As a child, I swam in competitions and spent countless hours training in the pool. Even with daily training, sometimes two or three hours a day, I loved it. I still remember my little notebook with grades: at first a mix, later only fives, the highest score. Then came training plans, written seriously on paper: 2×200 breaststroke, 3×400 front crawl.
You either love it or you don't.
At a certain point, studying took priority and I stopped competing when I was 11. But true love doesn't disappear.
Swimming stayed with me through my studies, my work, my travels, and later, as a mother. There was always water, sometimes swimming, sometimes water polo, always that feeling of coming home.
Over time, I learned different techniques and began to understand biomechanics and movement more deeply. But what I learned most is this: the body and the mind are deeply connected.
A tense body sinks like a stone.
A relaxed body floats.
At some point, life took me in a different direction. Professionally, I moved from teaching languages into an office role, learning, growing, building a career, just like many of us do. From the outside, everything looked right.
Yet inside, something was missing.
I wanted to be more in the water and less behind a chair.
A swimming school where:
Because swimming is about joy, not fear
Some dreams don't disappear. They wait.
And one day, that childhood dream woke up again.
That's how DREAMSSS was born.
How I see swimming
I believe swimming is much more than a necessary life skill.
Swimming is:
My vision for DREAMSSS is to be a place where swimming stays with you for life.
Not as pressure or obligation, but as confidence, freedom, and trust in your own body.
Everything is connected. At DREAMSSS, we teach children to find balance, to move with the right technique, without harming the body, and to feel happy in the water.
I want to pass on the experience of feeling water as a friend. A supportive element that can calm our minds and recharge our bodies. We all know this feeling, perhaps even from before we can remember it.
Swimming can be practised at any age. It connects generations and builds memories.
And yes: swimming should also be fun.
